Located in Olympia's Bigelow Highlands neighborhood on "Workingman's Hill", just east of downtown, State & Central plans to become a keystone to this established neighborhood. It's a place where food, drink, and friends are all ENJOYED!
Location
Food and Drink
State & Central offers a variety of pub food including burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, soups, salads and the mid-west classic "Juicy Lucy". In addition we have 12 craft beers and ciders available along with a full bar and signature cocktails.
History
In 1935, the State & Central location opened as Gwen Gayle Grocery and Market. It was owned by sisters Lillian Phillips and Pearl Harder and named after Pearl's children.
The sisters did not get along with each other, were described as not "particularly friendly", and "lacked good customer service skills."
We plan to treat our customers a little better!
The Billboard
The back wall at State & Central is an original Olympia Beer billboard that was planned to be unveiled in 1968. However, it never made into the public eye. It is "new old stock" (NOS) that saw the light of day for the first time on June 7th, 2017.
